Rafael Nadal and his stellar performances on the clay court have always managed to delight the entire tennis community. However, fans sorely missing the Spanish tennis legend who has missed out on a number of tournaments due to his injury that he picked at the start of the season.

Even his participation in the forthcoming French Open is under massive question, as he is still struggling with his injury woes. Despite the uncertainty surrounding his return, many prominent figures in the tennis circuit are still rooting for the 22-single Grand Slam champion. The list also includes the American tennis prodigy, Coco Gauff, as she recently issued a big statement regarding the Spaniard.

The ‘King of Clay’ endured a disappointing start to the season as he was knocked out of the Australian Open after his second-round defeat against Mackenzie McDonald. On top of that, Rafael Nadal also picked up a major injury to his leg. As a result, he pulled out of several tournaments in the clay season.

A major question mark still looms over the Spanish tennis star who hasn’t confirmed his participation in the Roland Garros. The prestigious tournament is set to commence shortly. However, Coco Gauff is quite certain that the 22 singles Grand Slam champion will showcase his prowess in the major clay court event.

In a post-match press conference of the Italian Open, the 19-year-old player also revealed that she made the mistake of underestimating Nadal in the previous season’s French Open. During the tournament, the Spaniard managed to outclass every other top player despite struggling with an injury.

Notably, Gauff said, “I made the mistake of doubting him. Next thing you know, he pretty much stormed his way to the final and won straight sets. He’s just a GOAT in that way, a GOAT on clay, someone you can’t underestimate.”

Gauff is not the only one who is openly rooting for Nadal as another promising prospect also expressed his admiration for the Spaniard.

Apart from Gauff, another prominent tennis youngster has recently made a big statement regarding the Spanish tennis legend’s participation in the French Open. It is none other than Nadal’s comprartiot,  Carlos Alcaraz.

Amidst all the doubts surrounding his comeback, the reigning US Open champion picked Nadal among the favorites to win the major clay event. He also picked himself alongside another legendary figure in the men’s circuit, Novak Djokovic.
