Martina Navratilova and Novak Djokovic have adopted a gluten-free lifestyle

The doctors diagnosed tennis legend, Martina Navratilova, with breast cancer in 2010. She had termed it as her personal ‘9/11’. However, the player stayed patient and fought the disease, and stuck to the medical recommendation. She recovered and a year later talked about the changes in her diet after her diagnosis. She had come back to her fitness regime and was focused on staying healthy.

Apart from that, she had adopted a gluten-free diet. In an old interview, she said, “When I was tested positive I’d barely heard of gluten intolerance but Djokovic is gluten-free as is another player Sabine Lisicki.” A doctor recommended Novak Djokovic to leave gluten in 2010. The player tried it and saw positive changes in his fitness.

Moreover, Navratilova talked about Lisicki and said, “She had some serious issues, she was bloated and had no energy but since she’s been gluten-free she’s been great.” 

How has Navratilova worked on her fitness?

Navratilova faced a problem initially but eventually, she found better alternatives for all her favorites. She said, “There is one downside to the diet. I miss the beer.” However, she also found something new instead of that and said, “But there is gluten-free beer. It’s quite nice, actually.”

Navratilova faced a serious issue with her diet when she first came to the US. The player consumed a huge amount of fast food and this affected her fitness level.
