Russian tennis legend Maria Sharapova was among the best of her generation. The 35-year-old retired in 2020 and recently welcomed her first child. Not long ago, the Russian star was in a romantic relationship with Bulgarian tennis star Grigor Dimitrov. While mostly everything was well between them, the difference in career goals forced them to part ways. Later, in her autobiography, Sharapova revealed the moment when she realized that the relationship is not going to work.

While recalling her time with Dimitrov in her autobiography, ‘Unstoppable’, the Russian revealed Dimitrov had a dream of watching her sit beside his mother when he plays at Wimbledon. “He looked at me, sad—I thought I saw tears in his eyes—“Did you see this? This means everything to me. Seeing you in my box next to my mother.”

Further, the Russian revealed how she felt they wanted different things in life. “It was then, at that moment, that the emotional pull I had been fighting came to an end. I knew, and so did he, that I couldn’t be that person at this time of my life, I was supposed to be focused, getting prepared for my own matches, my own triumphs, and defeats, on the largest stage of my career,” Sharapova added.
