Frances Tiafoe and his thoughts on Sloane Stephens
Frances Tiafoe and Sloane Stephens are very good friends, as was evident from Tiafoe’s post-match press conference. Both Americans sprung big upsets on Day 1 of the Wimbledon Championships, and both are determined to go as far as possible in the tournament.
“Yeah, it’s so funny. Me and Sloane were actually messaging literally about that because I was so hyped for her. You know I am a guy, I don’t know if you guys follow my socials, but I am a guy who always, if someone’s doing well, then I always show it love. And seeing her do so well in Paris was, I loved it. She hasn’t done something like that in a while… She is one of the best girls on tour, arguably. I mean she is fully there, I mean it’s not even, there is no gimmick. It is just facts,” Frances said.

Sloane beat World No. 10, Petra Kvitova, and is surely one of the players to look out for this year. She dominated the game and was lethal with her shots. “Obviously playing against Petra, you have to bring your A game. I thought I played really well today. I’m just trying to keep the momentum going, trying to find that, like, good, consistent level again,” Sloane said during her post-match interview.
The second-round games will begin on Wednesday, where the two Americans will be seen in action.
