Is the Hype Around Pickleball Slam 2 Real? Here’s the List of Sponsors for This $1million Event

The countdown has already begun. The Pickleball Slam 2 is going to start in just 3 days at the Hard Rock Live at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla. Pickleball is not just a sport, it has now become a revolution. The first edition of the tournament found a lot of success, and looking at the sponsors, it seems that the second edition is going to be even bigger.

ESPN’s first televised Pickleball Slam that happened last year averaged 237,000 viewers among adults under 50. What’s lined up for this season?

The 2024 event will witness the return of John McEnroe and Andre Agassi, plus there are two new additions for this year’s event. Steffi Graf and Maria Sharapova have also lined up to take part in Pickleball Slam 2. These four tennis icons will be competing for a prize purse of $1 M. Pickleball Slam 2 is slated for a live telecast at 8:30 pm ET and tickets are priced at $46 each.

In December last year, it was announced that Horizon Sports & Experiences and Inside Out Sports & Entertainment had secured the deal with four presenting sponsors for Pickleball Slam 2. Thanks to the popularity that the sport has gained over the years, Hard Rock, Brighthouse Financial, State Farm, and Franklin Sports have signed as sponsors for this season.

The on-court placements include baseline (Hard Rock), player’s benches (State Farm), and kitchen (Bright House). Additionally, the official balls for the event will be provided by Franklin Sports.

The major reason behind the massive success of Pickleball lies in its ability to recreate the feeling of playing tennis. But then, why not just play tennis for that? It is because Pickleball is a game that is not as intense as tennis, and therefore, players don’t always need to be extremely fit to perform better and have all the fun.

Andre Agassi looks forward to the new season

Last year Andre Agassi and Michael Chang snatched a doubles victory against John McEnroe and Andy Roddick. This year Agassi will be teaming up with his wife Steffi Graf to play against McEnroe and Maria Sharapova. What did he say before meeting up with John McEnroe yet again at the same tournament?

Agassi didn’t waste a chance to take a slight dig at McEnroe, as he joked, “John’s always fun to beat up on.” He further added, “I couldn’t think of anything better than including my wife. We have gotten so into it. We exercise. It’s a great outlet. You can get people together from all different levels and they engage with it and improve quickly. It’s a blast. It’s a blow of calories. What else can you do at 53 years old that you can actually say you’re getting better at?
