One of the biggest Masters 1000 tournaments on the Tennis circuit, the Cincinnati Open, will begin from the 13th August. Due to the pandemic, the organizers had to move the tournament to New York in 2020. However, the tournament made a comeback to Cincinnati in 2021 without any attendance limitations.

Recently the tournament announced another good news for the fans as Katie Haas is taking over as the CEO of Cincinnati Open.

Katie Haas is the new CEO of Cincinnati Open

Former vice-president of the Boston Red Sox team, Katie Haas has become the new CEO of the Cincinnati Open, also known as the Western & Southern Open. It was Katie who brought back the Cincinnati Open to Cincinnati in 2021 from New York.

Back in 2018, Katie became the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of this organization. As COO, Haas renewed the contract of the title sponsor of the Cincinnati Open, i.e. Western & Southern financial group.

The history of this prestigious tournament

Last year, Ashleigh Barty won the women’s singles tournament by beating Jil Teichmann in the final. In the men’s singles tournament, Alexander Zverev beat the Russian Andrey Rublev in the final to clinch the trophy. 23-time Grand Slam winner, Serena Williams has won this tournament two times.

Among the ATP players, Roger Federer has won this prestigious tournament most often, i.e. seven times. Another great thing about this tournament is it’s a combination of ATP Masters 1000 and WTA 1000. As a result, both men and women players can compete at the same time, like all the Grand Slam events.
