Martina Navratilova and Andy Roddick call for a rule change

Former men’s singles World Number 1, Andy Roddick took to Twitter to express his views about serving rules in tennis. He said, “I kinda think you shouldn’t be able to catch your toss, and try again. It’s part of the execution of a serve… Am I wrong on this? You’ve definitely started your motion once the toss goes up …. Thoughts?”

Martina Navratilova gave her thoughts on this while agreeing with Roddick’s views. She said, “Was just talking about that today when doing a match. Agreed. It’s a live ball. Could be really interesting- like some serves would be good gets:)”

Navratilova on Serena Williams’ maiden Grand Slam title

As the 23-time Grand Slam announced her retirement recently, Navratilova recounted Serena’s first Grand Slam title. At the 1999 US Open, the younger Williams sister defeated the top seed, Martina Hingis, in the summit clash to clinch the biggest title of her career back then.

Talking about Serena’s performance in that tournament, Navratilova felt that she played with a “freewheeling attitude” during her title-winning campaign at the US Open that year.
