Frances Tiafoe has been on cloud nine at this year’s US Open. Recently, he recorded one of his biggest career wins after he knocked out the second seed, Rafael Nadal, out of the US Open. It was an impressive performance by the American star, who was plagued with injuries and an inconsistent run of form earlier this season.

Osaka’s poor form this season continued as she lost in the first round of the US Open. Unseeded this year, Osaka lost out against the 19th seed, Danielle Collins of the United States. Moreover, it was yet another early exit for Osaka after first-round exits at the National Bank Open in Toronto and the Western and Southern Open in Cincinnati.

Tiafoe’s journey ahead at the US Open

The American star advanced to his maiden US Open quarterfinals after a comprehensive win over Nadal. In the last eight of the tournament, he will face the challenge of Andrey Rublev. The ninth seed Rublev had earlier defeated Cameron Norrie in straight sets.

Rublev and Tiafoe have played against each other twice before on the ATP Tour. Both of them have won a match against each other. They met earlier this year in Indian Wells where Rublev triumphed in straight sets.
