Roger Federer being an inspiration to the young generation is no news. The current ATP tour has several youngsters who have looked up to the Swiss Maestro since their childhood. Matteo Berrettini, Holger Rune and Stefanos Tsitsipas are some prominent examples. However, his fandom is not just limited to the younger generation.
Recently, a couple of women’s doubles legends have weighed in on their love for Roger Federer. Despite playing in an era before that of Roger Federer, they refuse to let go of their love for the Swiss Ace. But who are the former doubles icons in question?

Retired Mixed Doubles specialists express their love for Roger Federer
The podcast Fantastic Tennis has been celebrating 50 years of the WTA, gathering former WTA players for interviews. On a recent episode, Kimberly Po and Mariaan De Swardt were featured. They spoke at length about their playing days and also weighed in on the impact of legends like Venus Williams and Martina Navratilova. However, it was Roger Federer who turned out to be the highlight of the episode.
The host asked Kimberly Po about her favorite tennis player or if there’s anyone in particular that excites her. The American replied saying, “On the women’s tour? Not really. I mean – honestly – still my all-time favorite is to watch Roger Federer. I mean, because that’s like watching beauty on the court.” She was immediately interrupted by De Swardt who only seconded Po and added, “Watching ballet.”
Even after his retirement, fans and players refuse to let go of their love for the 20-time major champion.

In fact, a Canadian professional tennis player had recently taken offense at the mere mention of Federer’s retirement.
Roger Federer’s fanboy refused to accept his retirement
Denis Shapovalov is an ardent Federer fanboy. He has never failed to display his affection for the Swiss Maestro. A few weeks ago, he sat with the ATP tour for a bit of rapid questions and answers. On the mention of Federer’s retirement, Shapovalov questioned the interviewer jokingly, “How dare you?” He made it pretty clear with his statement that his love for Federer knows no bounds.
