‘Looking in the Same Direction’ – Gael Monfils, Elina Svitolina, and Others Share Their Valentine’s Day Stories

Tennis is known for being a relentless sport where the athletes barely get any time off, so for them, it makes any time they get with their loved ones even more special. One such occasion was Valentine’s day where people from the tennis community spread their love for their partners, and the world, from power couple – Elina Svitolina and Gael Monfils, to Diego Schwartzman, and a warm post from Naomi Osaka.

Svitolina and Monfils, who have been in a relationship since 2019 and got married in 2021, showered their love on each other. Gael has been away from competitive tennis since his round of 16 loss in France earlier this week; shared a sweet wedding photo with his wife.

The caption reads, “Loving is not just looking at each other, it’s looking in the same direction. Happy Valentine’s Day.”

While his wife, who is playing in Dubai, also shared their wedding picture with the caption, “THE ONE for my [heart emoji] Happy Valentine’s Day!”

Argentine tennis star Diego Schwartzman also wished his partner, Eugenia De Martino, with an adorable Valentine’s day wish on Instagram.

The caption read, “The one that makes me fall in love every day, Happy day @eugedemartino I love you forever.” Diego is currently playing in the Rio Open.

Caroline Wozniacki, Naomi Osaka, and others spread love too

Former World No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki also showed her affection towards her husband and former NBA-star David Lee (who played for the Golden State Warriors). She also shared a cute family photo on her official Insta account.

 

Caroline Wozniacki retired from professional tennis back in 2020.

Petra Kvitova, the Czech professional, took the opportunity to spread love among her fans, she tweeted,

The Japanese superstar, Naomi Osaka, tweeted her Valentine’s wish without mentioning anyone, but rather meant for it to be a reason to be surrounded with love and kindness.
