Shocking news coming in from Madrid! Russian tennis player makes a bizarre claim stating she was robbed during her stay in Madrid. Maria Timofeeva was in the Spanish capital to take part in the qualifiers at the 2024 Madrid Open. A few days after being knocked out by Harriet Dart in the second round earlier this week, Timofeeva revealed more than 10,000 Euros during her stay. This is getting out of control,” she lamented, on the incident happening for second time in six months.

The 20-year-old Timofeeva took to her Instagram story to share the unfortunate news, stating “Here I am back in Spain six months later and I have been robbed again here.” Further expanding on the incident, she said, “So apparently in the past few days, I’m in Madrid. Someone has been spending money from my bank account and spent nearly a little more than 10,000 Euros. I’m freaking out!

The World No. 99 couldn’t understand how it could happen because she says physically the card was with her most of the time. However, there was only one instance when she left it out while the room was being cleared by the maids of the hotel she was staying in.

Maria Timofeeva further went on to add, “The purchases were made here in Spain in Madrid around this area. Normally, for online purchases, you need a confirmation code which is normally coming to my phone, which didn’t happen!” The 20-year-old tennis player stated the circumstances are crazy and she doesn’t know what could happen next. She asked if someone could give her any advice on that.

However, this isn’t the first time that the tennis stars have been targeted by robbers. Just a few weeks ago, Sebastian Korda was robbed just days before the Monte-Carlo Masters.

Timofeeva not alone in thefts

According to several reports, Sebastian Korda’s $319,615 Richard Mille watch was stolen by two individuals during his stay in Monte-Carlo earlier this month. Two robbers came wearing their helmets, stopped the tennis player and took away his luxurious watch. Unfortunate fate didn’t leave Grigor Dimitrov  as well.

Thankfully, nothing happened to him.
