Simona Halep‘s career has taken a surprising turn on the court, with doping charges casting a pall over her once-illustrious path. It’s been more than a year that she has been fighting against the two doping allegations that have stopped her from being part of the WTA tour. However, in a recent revelation, she confessed to taking a supplement on her team’s demand, which started the whole chaos.

However, after hearing the Romanian tennis player’s take on why she tested positive for Roxadustat, Kim Clijsters raised concerns about the 32-year-old tennis player’s team not facing any consequences of the ban. Following that, Naomi Osaka‘s former coach, Sascha Bajin, backed the Belgian tennis player’s authentic take on the doping trial.

The Romanian tennis player tested positive for Roxadustat during the 2022 US Open, and as a result, the International Tennis Integrity Agency banned her from playing tennis for four years. Despite admitting and bringing her team’s name to light for testing positive for the supplement, the 32-year-old athlete was spared the penalties that other athletes suffered.

Looking into this in a new episode of Served with Andy Roddick, the 40-year-old former tennis player shared her take on the same. She stated, “To me, the biggest red flag is the team. I have a really hard time that there is no consequence for the team, that it’s just the athlete.” Subsequently, as soon as her statement started making rounds on the internet, the Japanese tennis player’s former coach supported the stand and shared his take on how it is unfair that only the players face the consequences in such cases.

He wrote, “I think Kim is onto something here. I share her thoughts about coaches that give players supplements. Don’t think it’s fair that only the players gets the consequences. What you guys think?” He not only mirrored the Belgian tennis player’s thoughts but also offered his perspective as an athlete, drawing from his vast experience as a member of the coaching staff and his astute observations of the game.

Not only that, even Andy Roddick’s shared a similar stand, in the same podcast conversation, agreeing with what the four-time Grand Slam champion stated.

Roddick’s comparable take on Simone Halep’s doping confession

During the recent podcast, when Clijsters strongly put her stand on how it’s not fair with the athletes, the former American tennis player, tagged it as a “vortex”. Further, he clearly stated, “I have a really hard time that there is no consequence for the team, that it’s just the athlete.”

While the Romanian tennis player has received a lot of support over her recent confession of how she tested positive for the supplement in the first place, she still has a lot of hope to come back on the tennis court as soon as possible. On the other hand, while she has been facing a tennis ban for going against the rules, her team has been sitting out of the discussion.
