Roger Federer, Legendary Swiss tennis player, recently gave a shocking news to tennis fans, as he announced his retirement from professional tennis. According to his statement, the Laver Cup 2022 will be the last tournament in his career. 

Meanwhile, another legendary tennis player, Serena Williams, recently retired from professional tennis as well. However, she has also been teasing a return like Tom Brady, one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history. Recently Federer gave a statement regarding his possible return in the future, which could disappoint many fans.

Roger Federer dismisses his return to tennis

Earlier, Roger Federer sat down with Savannah Guthrie from the Today show, to talk about his decision on retirement. Notably, this was his very first interview after releasing the statement on social media a few days back.

 When asked about pulling off a Tom Brady-inspired U-turn, Federer said, “No, I know, I’m definitely done, I know that.”

A few days back, Serena Williams appeared on the Jimmy Fallon show, where she teased many fans about possibly making a comeback to tennis, just like Tom Brady did. Moreover, after losing in the third round of the US Open, Serena talked about liking the Australian Open at the press conference. So, it will be interesting to see if Serena makes a comeback in the future.

Notably, Tom Brady did the same after last season as he announced his retirement from the NFL. However, he allegedly changed his mind after seeing 37-year-old, Cristiano Ronaldo’s performance at the Old Trafford Stadium. In the latest NFL season, he will return to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to possibly play a full season. On the other hand, Federer’s news might not please his fans, as many of them were hoping to see him making a comeback in the future.

Federer is gearing up for the Laver Cup 2022

Recently, Federer landed in London to play Laver Cup, his final tournament. He will represent Team Europe in the tournament. Notably, he missed last year’s tournament due to injury.
