Serena Williams’ former coach Patrick Mouratoglou has great news for tennis players as he is about to open a branch of his own tennis academy at Victoria’s Surf Coast. While talking about that during an interview, he also talked about the Australian ‘bad boy’ of tennis, Nick Kyrgios, who has not played many matches during the past tournament season.
Suffering from a lot of injuries, Kyrgios was sidelined in most of the major tournaments over the past year. This has not only affected his ranking but also his tennis abilities. However, Mouratoglou feels that he knows what is stopping Kyrgios from being his best and winning a slam.

Patrick Mouratoglou said, “The thing is, he needs to want to have a coach. You cannot work with a player who doesn’t want a coach. The guy has incredible potential. He’s complicated. He’s complex. Sometimes I’m not even sure he understands himself. But watching him from the side for so many years, I think there are a lot of very smart things to do with him to make him a Grand Slam winner.”
According to Serena Williams’ former coach, Kyrgios needs to have a decent team and coach. And only when this happens, he can successfully pave his way toward a Grand Slam title. Besides that, Kyrgios also officially announced that he won’t be playing at the Australian Open 2024 this year.
