Venus Williams has been a pillar in American tennis history. Her longevity playing at the highest level is something very few could even think of, let alone match it. Not only has she succeeded in singles but also in doubles and mixed doubles. While she has seven Grand Slam singles titles, Venus has teamed up with Serena Williams to clinch 14 major doubles titles. Additionally, the 43-year-old also has two Grand Slam mixed doubles titles to her credit. Recently, she opened up on exploring a new mixed doubles partnership.
The elder Williams sister is active on social media and regularly keeps her fans posted about new updates. A few hours ago, a new video dropped by where Venus could be seen answering fans’ questions. During this, she had an interesting update about the upcoming US Open.

Venus Williams on her partnership with Reilly Opelka
During the Q&A session, Venus read out one fan question which said, “Would you play mixed doubles with Opelka in us open?” For those unknown, Venus is good friends with Opelka and the two have been spotted hanging out.
Responding to this question, Venus said, “It’s a long way away. It’d be two big serves, and that’d be a lot of fun. But you know, I think Riley should focus on the singles and I’m actually retired in doubles.”

Further, she adds, “I keep saying it and no one believes me, but I’ve seen the Mountaintop; I’ve played with the best, I’ve played with Serena. It doesn’t get much better than that”. With this, Venus squashed any fan hope of seeing her play in doubles. Nonetheless, she has an exciting journey coming up on the singles front.
Venus’ upcoming matches
Despite a disappointing performance at this year’s Wimbledon, Venus has a redemption chance coming up. The former World Number One has received a wildcard to play at the National Bank Open in Montreal. It will be a tremendous opportunity for Venus to prove that she’s not yet done on the big stage. Additionally, it’ll be a vital tournament ahead of the US Open.
