Novak Djokovic, the Serbian tennis phenomenon, has had an extraordinary career that boasts Grand Slam titles and record-breaking milestones. His sheer dominance on the court and incredible consistency in winning matches have earned him a place among the greatest tennis players of all time. However, despite his achievements, some fans may not be as enthusiastic about Djokovic’s success, as they are about the unpredictability and chaos that can accompany the sport.

A lot of people question Djokovic being called the GOAT. Former World No. 7 Andrea Petkovic recently shared her thoughts on why some tennis fans may want Novak Djokovic to lose in matches. The German tennis player expressed her belief that people crave chaos, and since Djokovic’s gameplay is far from chaotic, it might be the reason behind the desire to see him lose.

Andrea Petkovic shares why people want Novak Djokovic to lose

During an interview with Telegraf, Andrea Petkovic was asked why Westerners would want Novak Djokovic to lose or why is that they are too critical of him.

To which she responded, “Sometimes I think it’s not personally against Novak, but sometimes people, not knowing how difficult it is to achieve what he achieves, want someone else to win so they don’t get bored. Often things are not personal, only people want chaos. And, Nole is not chaos, Nole is very standard, he will play well and 99 percent will win. It is the opposite of chaos.”

Petkovic’s observations about people’s desire for chaos in sports stem from the human inclination towards excitement and thrill. Watching a closely contested match with unexpected twists and turns can be exhilarating for fans.

Djokovic’s gameplay, on the other hand, is characterized by precision, focus, and unwavering determination, traits that make his victories more predictable.

Petkovic also declared Novak to be the real GOAT

In the same interview, Andrea was also asked about who she thinks is the best of all time or the GOAT in tennis. To this, she answered that this is all about numbers. Being the greatest of all time is different from being the person who has made the most impact or influenced the most and being GOAT means having the best numbers.

And when it comes to being the GOA based on that, it is always going to be Novak Djokovic as of now because he is the greatest when it comes to having the best numbers, rankings, record-breaking achievements, and much more, but overall there is always going to be a debate over it.
