Given below is the list of those 5 stars.

1) Rafael Nadal

For over two decades, the Spanish legend made everyone fall in love with this beautiful game. From injuries to success, moments of joy to sad endings, the Spanish bull went through almost every phase.

Throughout his career, he laid his hands on numerous ATP titles along with 22 prestigious grand slams. However, the king of clay went through one of the worst phases of his life when he was forced to withdraw from the Australian Open in 2023 due to an injury.

Working on his comeback with great focus, Nadal is now all set and ready to grace the court in style, while mentioning that this could well be his last year on the professional circuit. Thus, Rafael Nadal is one of those stars who will finally hang up their tennis rackets and put an end to their illustrious career. A career that took them to exceptional heights, followed by love and fame.

2) Venus Williams

Another star on the line who could mark an end to her career is none other than the American tennis icon Venus Williams. Having won 7 grand slams throughout her career, the 43-year-old player hasn’t featured since her first-round exit at the US Open.

Hoping to turn things around, she would be looking to return around next year. However, after confirming that she suffered an injury back in Wimbledon 2023, she revealed that she will be hoping to make a comeback by March 2024. This will see her miss the Australian Open as well.

With her turning 44 next year, her body will not be the same as that of a youngster, and with the rise of new stars in the game, Venus Williams’ game could well be outdated. Thus, she could potentially be another star in the line who could mark an end to their career by the end of next year and join hands with Rafael Nadal.

3) Stanislas Wawrinka

Regarded by many as the next Roger Federer, the Swiss star Stan Wawrinka had all the qualities to dominate the tennis world. However, playing in an era that was majorly dominated by the ‘Big 3’ made things difficult, as his real gameplay could not come to light. Despite this, the 38-year-old star has 3 grand slam titles to his name.

Having played his last tournament in the form of the Moselle Open last year, he would be looking to give his best and start his campaign in the Australian Open on a high. Being 39 next year, the Swiss star, who had battled with multiple injuries last year, could end his career on a high note.

4) Andy Murray

The next star on the line who could put an end to his glorious career is Andy Murray. In an era that was dominated by the ‘Big 3’, he swiftly entered the scene and expanded the ‘Big 3’ into ‘Big 4’. The British superstar, who won 3 grand slams throughout his career as a professional player, was one of the deadliest players on the tennis court. Apart from the Grand Slam titles, he also won 2 Olympic Gold Medals.

Interestingly, Murray hasn’t featured in any tournament since his first-round exit at the Paris Masters. Thus, the 36-year-old player will be looking to make an emphatic comeback here in Australia. However, certain reports also suggest that Murray has claimed that he has no plans to retire at the end of the season.

“If I want to keep going, I’m going to need a lot of work. It’s not just going to be like one or two weeks of training to get me to where I need to get to, it’s going to have to be a lot of work and consistent work to give myself a chance,” said Murray.

That being said, it will now be interesting to see how things unfold at the end of the season for him. Until that, keep enjoying the stunning gameplay of the British star.

5) Victoria Azarenka

The 5th and last player on the line, who could consider hanging up her boots by the end of the season, could be Vicotria Azarenka. The Belarusian superstar, who has won 2 grand slams in her career, hasn’t featured since the Hong Kong Open back in October 2023.

One take at a time

In a world where player rivalries dominate social media conversations, I am someone who prefers to enjoy the skills showcased on the court rather than be involved in feuds over the greatness of players. Right from my early childhood, I have been engrossed by the legendary rivalry between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. It turned me into a ?Fedal? fan and eventually, when I graduated from college, this fandom created an interest in covering their exploits on the court.
