After witnessing some great tennis in the season so far, it is time for the US Open 2021. The Grand Slam is just a week away and thus, players as well as fans seem quite exhilarated about it.

It is a fact that the US Open often offers the highest prize money to its players. The winners earn more than $2 million each in the men’s and women’s singles category. However, is it paying the highest to its players this year as well?
The 2021 US Open will set a new record in prize money and total player compensation at $57.5 M.

This year, despite the coronavirus pandemic, the Australian Open kept a prize pool of $51.6 million which was about 0.7% more than what it offered in 2020. On the other hand, the French Open reduced around 10% prize money this year and offered a total of $40.3 million to its players.
The Wimbledon Championships 2021 kept their prize money at $48 million- which saw a reduction of about 7.85% as compared to 2019. However, the US Open is the only Grand Slam which has made an increment of about 7.67% to its prize money. It currently stands at $57.5 million– making it the Grand Slam offering the highest prize money to date.

Comparison of the winner’s prize money at US Open with other three Grand Slams
Novak Djokovic and Naomi Osaka, both received a total of about $2 million after winning the Australian Open 2021 title. However, Djokovic and Krejcikova received about 1.6 million after getting their hands on the French Open 2021 title.

As far as the Wimbledon Championships 2021 are concerned, Djokovic and Ashleigh Barty took home a whopping $2.3 million in the prize money. However, the US Open 2021 is still giving the highest prize money to the winners.
The players winning in New York will get $2.5 million each. Interestingly, this is the highest that any Grand Slam has offered this year. Thus, it will be intriguing to see who emerges as the winner at the US Open this year.
