20-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal took to Twitter to wish the best of health to Chris Evert. The former American WTA player shockingly announced that she is fighting stage 1 ovarian cancer.

Rafa, who just won the 2022 Melbourne Summer Set tournament to begin his season this year, reacted to the news Evert gave, much like the rest of the tennis fraternity.

Rafael Nadal hopes to see Chris Evert healthy soon

18-time Grand Slam champion Chris Evert shared her stage 1 ovarian cancer diagnosis on Twitter yesterday. She expressed her gratitude that the doctors “caught it early”.

Thus, she expects “positive results from (her) chemo plan”. She further thanked fellow ESPN journalist Chris McKendry for co-writing her personal story behind her diagnosis.

Evert hopes to help others by getting her story out there to the world. Furthermore, she also thanked everyone “for respecting (her) need to focus on (her) health and treatment plan.”

Rafael Nadal commented on Evert’s announcement the subsequent day. “Chris, all the best to you,” Rafa wrote. “Get well!” he wished Evert. Moreover, he also expressed how he was certain that she would be healthy soon, and back on the press tour for ESPN.

“I am sure I’ll see you very soon!” Rafael Nadal wrote on Twitter, attaching a small strength emoji to his tweet to wish Evert strength and health.

Even the most sought-after coach in tennis, Patrick Mouratoglou reacted to Evert’s announcement. In fact, he wished her using her nickname, and wrote “Much love and strength to you Chrissie,” in his tweet to Evert.

Nadal welcomes doubts ahead of Australian Open run

After winning the Melbourne Summer Set, Rafael Nadal is all set to compete in the first Grand Slam of the year. This will be his first Grand Slam after the 2021 French Open, after which he exited the tour due to injury.

In a lead-up video to the Australian Open, Rafael Nadal opened up about how he still doubts himself often. He acknowledged how the odds are against him at 35 years old. However, he does not doubt his passion, nor his goal of winning.

Nevertheless, even though he sometimes has doubts, Nadal said that “doubts are good”, because they “make you think,” and “make you feel alive.”

Nadal is the sixth seed in the Australian Open. Considering how he just got back from recovery and is feeling fresh, many believe that the 20-time champion just might have a solid chance at going deep into his run, and potentially even lifting the trophy.
