While the American legend retired at the US Open, Federer last played at the Laver Cup before calling it quits. Over the years, fans have been acquainted with seeing them in action. However, their retirement has left a huge void in the tennis circuit. Recently, a new list was released that snubbed Federer and Serena.

During their respective careers, the two legends have gone on to make and break several records. Additionally, they often have featured at the top – be it in earnings or popularity. However, with their retirement, they have gone missing from a major list.

Roger Federer and Serena Williams snubbed after their retirement

Recently, SportsPro released a list of the most marketable athletes of 2023. It featured some of the top stars across the globe, who have made a mark on and off the field. Various sports like soccer, basketball, and gymnastics were covered in this list. Additionally, tennis was also represented in this list. But two of the most prominent names were missing from the SportsPro List.

The list excluded Federer and Serena as they dropped out of the top 50 most marketable athletes. Despite their off-court activities after their retirement, the two failed to make it to this list.

In tennis, Novak Djokovic ushered his dominance after having one of the best years of his career this season. He won all but the Wimbledon Championships among the Grand Slams. However, he wasn’t the only tennis player to feature in this list.

Which other tennis players made it to the SportsPro list?

Although SportsPro snubbed Serena and Federer, there were many tennis players to feature in this list apart from Djokovic. The likes of Coco Gauff, Aryna Sabalenka, and Ons Jabeur made it to this list. Additionally, the likes of Emma Raducanu, Rafael Nadal, and Petra Kvitova were also present.

Nonetheless, Federer and Serena can enjoy their retirement life, now that the pressure of staying on top of the game has gone away. Their on-court achievements are an ode to their greatness and a single list cannot undermine their stature.
