“Really Taking Flight”: Tennis Legend Believes Naomi Osaka and Daniil Medvedev Will Emulate Australian Open Success at Miami Open 2021

The main draw of the Miami Open 2021 will begin soon and fans are quite exhilarated about the tournament. As the Big Three are not playing at the event this time, all eyes will be on the top-seed Daniil Medvedev. As far as women’s tennis is concerned, it will be the World No. 2 Naomi Osaka who will be beginning as the favorite.

Naomi Osaka won the hearts of tennis fans after her splendid performance at the Australian Open 2021. The Japanese star first defeated the in-form Serena Williams in straight sets in the semis and then went on to thrash Jennifer Brady in the finals. It is her fighting spirit and exceptional gameplay on the hard courts that make her a strong contender for the Miami Open 2021 title.

In a recent interview, tennis legend Jim Courier revealed who he was excited to watch in Miami. According to him, there are two players who will surely be worth watching.

“Some of the young players, like Naomi Osaka and Daniil Medvedev, are really taking flight,” said the 4-time Grand Slam winner.

The two youngsters have clearly impressed Courier. He also believes that they have a great chance to win the title in Miami this year.

Both Naomi Osaka and Daniil Medvedev have shown some brilliant tennis over the past few months. While Osaka won the Australian Open 2021 title, Medvedev ended as the runner-up. It is because of this reason that Courier feels that both will be fun to watch at the upcoming Miami Open 2021.

“It will be fun to see if they can keep their recent form,” added the former World No.1.

Medvedev recently won his first title of the season at the Open 13,  2021. He is enjoying some great momentum and will look forward to lifting the Miami Open 2021 title, thus gaining 1000 points in the ATP rankings.

Similarly, Serena’s absence from the Miami Open will further make the path easy for Osaka. Will she be able to win yet another title in 2021?
