Last night, the New York crowd at the US Open saw one of the matches of the tournament, as Carlos Alcaraz beat the Italian tennis player Jannik Sinner in five incredible sets. After the match, many players reacted on social media, praising the whole match.
Two American tennis stars and doubles partners, Coco Gauff and Jessica Pegula, also took to social media to praise both the players, particularly Alcaraz, for his amazing shots and resilience throughout the match.

18-year-old Coco Gauff has been posting about the match on her Instagram stories. She was in awe of their level, even after playing for more than four hours. Later, she tweeted, “this match is insane. I leave at 6 am for the airport but I refuse to sleep and miss this.”

Her friend and doubles partner, Jessica Pegula, also posted about the match on her Instagram stories. Moreover, she shared a video clip of an incredible shot made by Alcaraz. After seeing that shot, Pegula wrote in her stories, “This kid was just built for these moments I swear.“

It is worth noting that both Gauff and Pegula lost their respective quarter-final matches, which ended their campaign at this year’s US Open. Moreover, the pair lost in the first round of their doubles match as well.

Safe to say, the quarter match between Sinner and Alcaraz was truly spectacular, as the Spaniard played two back-to-back matches at the Arthur Ashe Stadium, which went past 2 am at night.

Against Sinner, he made a great start as he won the first set pretty easily. However, the Italian tennis player came back in the match by winning the next two sets in tie-breaks. At one point, Sinner had an early break in the fourth set and looked favourite to win the match. However, the Spaniard made a tremendous comeback to win the next two sets and the match.

After almost 5 hours and 15 minutes, Alcaraz beat Sinner 6-3,6-7,6-7,7-5,6-3. After the match, the Spaniard thanked the New York crowd for supporting him and giving him energy throughout the match. With this win, he reached his first-ever Grand Slam semi-final, which is undoubtedly a big achievement for the 19-year-old Spaniard. In the semi-final, he will face the 24-year-old American player Frances Tiafoe, who showed great form in this tournament.
