Just like the rising tennis stars, the former world No. 1 player also made his mark in the tennis community at the mere age of 19 when he outclassed the tennis legend, Andy Roddick. His breakthrough came in 2006 during the grass-court major event where he defeated the former American tennis player.

Later on, the tennis community always had high expectations for Andy Murray, which contributed to the difficulties that come with gaining overnight success at such a young age. Having gone through all such circumstances, the 36-year-old player was quite empathetic towards Carlos Alcaraz and Emma Raducanu during his recent interview with UK Sports, he expressed his viewpoints on early fame.

During his post-match interview at the Surbiton Trophy, the former world No. 1 player was asked about the present state of British tennis in terms of WTA rankings. It emphasized the fact that there are currently no British WTA players in the top 100 rankings including the former US Open champion, Raducanu as she is struggling with her injury woes.

However, Murray had a blunt answer as he came to defend his compatriot why reminding the naysayers about Raducanu’s triumph in  New York. The 36-year-old player further questioned if the rankings can really quantify success when a player has already clinched a Grand Slam title.
