Tennis is widely popular as an individual sport, but the doubles and mixed doubles categories are also integral parts of the sport. Without them, the world would’ve missed some of the spectacular tennis partnerships. Indeed, there wouldn’t have been Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal playing together at the Laver Cup, or Andy Murray and Serena Williams playing at Wimbledon. So, Tennis Channel asked players competing at Indian Wells about their dream mixed doubles partner.

While most of them chose the legends of the sport, some gave fascinating answers. For instance, Diego Schwartzman chose fellow Argentine Gabriela Sabatini, stating that it was an easy choice. Notably, Coco Gauff, Matteo Berrettini, Maria Sakkari, Frances Tiafoe, Diego Schwartzman, Reilly Opelka, and Sloane Stephens participated.

Roger Federer becomes the most selected dream mixed doubles partner
First of all, the 17-year-old Coco Gauff stated that she would play either with Roger Federer or Nick Kyrgios. Earlier, Gauff and Kyrgios had tweeted each other about the same.

“Definitely, Roger or Nick Kyrgios. I am sure some of you guys know that he tweeted at me. So, I hope that we can make that happen for you guys,” Gauff said.

Afterward, the Italian star Matteo Berrettini went with a safe answer, his girlfriend, Ajla Tomljanovic. Before this, the couple had opened up on wanting to play mixed doubles on the Tour during this year’s Wimbledon.

Following Berrettini, the Greek professional Maria Sakkari picked the entire big three as her dream partners. “I would say Rafa, Roger, Novak… the big three for sure,” Sakkari said.

Next up, the American Frances Tiafoe selected fellow youngsters from Washington as his dream partner on the court. “Robin Montgomery and Hailey Baptiste, those two guys, that would be cool,” Tiafoe said.
Most interestingly, the American Reilly Opelka named Venus Williams as his dream mixed doubles partner. Although he had an opportunity in the past but got injured, he would love to play again. He also called her one of his favorite players.

Lastly, the former US Open champion Sloane Stephens suggested two of the most inspiring American legends, Andre Agassi and Pete Sampras. She chose their names “because they are like the coolest.”
