Carlos Alcaraz opens up about influencing fellow players

The 19-year-old is in New York to participate in the US Open. During the post-match interview after his second-round win over Federico Coria of Argentina, Alcaraz was asked to comment about players such as Coco Gauff and Naomi Osaka drawing inspiration from him.

Talking about this, he said, “Well, I’m really happy to hear that, that the best, I mean, woman’s player say that about you. It’s great. I mean, I’m trying to show all the players, all the people, that you have to, I mean, to enjoy, to go for it, to show your best level in the best moment, in the best style.”

Further, talking about a player in women’s tennis who inspires him, Alcaraz said, “I mean, I could say Serena. Serena inspire me a lot. Last match yesterday was amazing, and of course during her career inspire me, and a lot of players, you know. I would say Serena.”

Alcaraz’s next opponent at the US Open

After a dominating win over Federico Coria, the Spanish sensation will face Jenson Brooksby of the United States. The latter knocked out Borna Coric of Croatia in the second round.
