Notably, Petkovic said, “For me this is Iga Swiatek and Rafael Nadal. They are driven by anxiety. They’re so scared to lose. Rafael Nadal has won 14 Roland Garros as he comes out in the first round of the French Open, playing a lucky loser. And you can see in his face that he’s scared to lose like every single person out there is like Rafa, you might lose a game.”

The former German tennis player went on to say that Swiatek and Nadal’s fear of losing a match drives them to become more intense on the court. She added, “You’re not going to lose the match, but he thinks he believes that he will lose and that’s what drives him because he’s so intense, because he’s afraid that he’s going to lose and the third player and I was a little bit like that.”

However, this aspect is not there in Williams and Djokovic, who are “driven by revenge,” according to the former tennis pro. Petkovic said, “That’s why I identify with Novak So much is driven by revenge like you don’t believe in me. Oh, I’m going to show you and I think Serena was similar so that I can Serena and Novak have something very similar in their mentality. Yes, because Serena and Venus were never believed in. They were always ostracized. They were always like, Oh, these girls from Compton, they can’t win anything, or they are not going to make it.”
