During a conversation there, Connors talked about the recent tragedy with Sabalenka, highlighting the fact that she chose to participate in the Miami Open and not take a break from tennis. He said, “That is devastating, and how she takes it only she knows, but, you know, that’s a comment. I mean, she would be criticized if she pulled out or she or she’s going to be criticized if she continues to play, you know, because that’s just the way people are.”

The reigning Australian Open champion took to her official Instagram handle to pay tribute to Koltsov. Subsequently, she also went on to reveal a thing about their relationship that a few might have known.

Sabalenka said, “Konstantin’s death is an unthinkable tragedy, and while we were no longer together, my heart is broken. Please respect my privacy and his family’s privacy during this difficult time.” As far as the world knew, the couple had still been together but Saba’s words discredited it.
Aryna Sabalenka will begin her Miami Open campaign later today, facing one of her closest friends, Spain’s Paula Badosa in the round of 64. The entire tennis world will be behind her when she steps onto the court.
