20-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic has been in the news quite often for the last couple of months. Last month, he had to leave Australia before the Grand Slam, since he hadn’t gotten the Covid vaccination administered. Recently, Djokovic spoke to the media about his unwillingness to take the vaccine even if it costs him more Grand Slam titles.

American tennis legend, Pam Shriver expressed her opinion about Djokovic not taking the vaccine. She feels that Djokovic’s decision will be terrible for tennis.

“I hope that the right trusted person, who is an expert in science and medicine, probably would have to be a Serbian, can sit him down and show him, and walk him through all of the steps that make the science and the medicine trustworthy and safe to put in his body,” Shriver said in an interview.

“Because it’s terrible for tennis, not good for him – and, really, he does lead by example. The fact that he doesn’t trust it, it does lead a lot of people, in his home country and throughout the world,” Shriver further added.

Shriver was unequivocal about her stance regarding the vaccination, and Djokovic could have a lot to lose if he doesn’t change his mind.

Novak Djokovic stands firm with his decision

Earlier in an interview with BBC, Djokovic talked about his decision to not take the vaccine. “I was never against vaccination, but I’ve always supported the freedom to choose what you put in your body,” Djokovic stated.
