Nick Kyrgios and Emma Raducanu have had contrasting 2022 seasons thus far. While Kyrgios won the Australian Open men’s doubles title with compatriot Thanasi Kokkinakis, Emma Raducanu had a dismal campaign Down Under. She lost in the second round of the tournament against Danka Kovinic.
Further, the Australian had a decent run at the ‘Sunshine Double’. He made it to the quarterfinals in Indian Wells, before going down to Rafael Nadal in a three-setter thriller. Subsequently, he had a pre-quarterfinal exit at the Miami Open. On the other hand, Raducanu had a third-round and a second-round exit in Indian Wells and Miami, respectively.

Anke Huber gives her comparisons between Nick Kyrgios and Emma Raducanu
The German tennis star talked about the increasing on-court outbursts. Revealing why Raducanu is better than Kyrgios for promoting tennis, she said, “Kyrgios pulls off this show – like John McEnroe before – often on purpose. It’s his ploy to keep the conversation going. But I don’t know if you should want that for women’s tennis. Granted, it makes things more interesting.”
Further, she added, “But I think an Emma Raducanu is more effective in women’s tennis. Raducanu is someone who can play at the top in the future. She has everything to become a top-5 player and maybe even make it to number one. Emma needs another year or two to become consistent and really demonstrate what she is capable of.”

A few days ago, the Australian announced that he’ll be playing at the French Open in 2023. It comes as a huge surprise, especially given the fact that he does not relish playing on clay. Kyrgios will be playing at the tournament after five years, having last played in 2017.
On the other hand, Raducanu, who rose to prominence by winning the US Open last year just at the age of 18 without dropping a set, should be keen to achieve some consistency on the tour.
