Losing someone close is one of the saddest events someone can go through. Losing a parent amplifies the pain ten folds. The support and words of others are the only things one can use to comfort themselves. Recently, Alison Riske-Amritraj lost her father to Leukemia. However, she is not alone in her fight, as several of her peers and players around the world have offered their condolences and support. Reilly Opelka, Coco Gauff, Madison Keys and Tracy Austin were some of the players who left kind words for Alison.

Alison Riske-Amritraj is a WTA player who reached a career high of 18 in November 2019. Riske has won three WTA titles, along with nine singles titles and one doubles titles in the ITF category.

Coco Gauff, Reilly Opelka and more comfort Alison

In a recent post on Instagram, Alison Riske-Amritraj bid farewell to her father while recounting her life with her father. Riske’s father had leukemia. He overcame it, but the dreaded disease showed its face again in December last year. After a long and hard-fought battle, he succumbed to the illness.

In addition to writing a heartwarming message for her father, Riske also encouraged people to donate for cancer research. Unsurprisingly, the comment section of the post was more than just supportive.

Former number one Tracy Austin sent her regards, as she commented: “I am so sorry Ali💔 Those are such heartfelt, loving words from a lucky daughter-sounds like an amazing bond! May beautiful memories help sustain you during this difficult time. ❤️❤️❤️“.

Additionally, condolences were also left by Coco Gauff and Reilly Opelka, peers of Riske. Gauff commented: “sending you so much love ❤️ may he rest in peace“.

Opelka reacted by commenting: “❤️❤️❤️“. Madison Keys also left a similar comment: “❤️❤️❤️“.

American doubles player Bethanie Mattek-Sands also left a heartfelt message for the player. She said, “Ali I teared up reading this message!! Sending you all my love and a big hug… I think you are just as big of a badass yourself. Love you! ❤️❤️❤️.”

Losing a parent leaves one feeling low for quite some time. However, the support of loved ones always succeeds in lifting up one’s spirits. Thankfully for Riske, there is no shortage of support. Her husband and her family will be with her throughout this difficult period and she will soon remember her father without tears in her eyes.
