The sun is setting on the 2022 season in tennis. Over the past nine months, fans have been fortunate to witness exhilarating tennis action. While Rafael Nadal reigned at the Australian Open and the French Open, Novak Djokovic successfully defended his Wimbledon title. Further, Carlos Alcaraz maintained his rise as he won his maiden Grand Slam title at the US Open. On the women’s front, Iga Swiatek consolidated her top position, ushering her domination this year.

In the remainder of the 2022 season, some important tournaments will take place, including the ATP and WTA Finals. Additionally, another exciting tournament has been announced during the off-season.

Novak Djokovic and Iga Swiatek to star in the World Tennis League

The inaugural edition of the World Tennis League is set to take place this year. The tournament will take place in Dubai from December 19-24. Further, some of the top tennis players in the world will participate in the tournament. It will feature the likes of Djokovic and Iga Swiatek.

Apart from them, Nick Kyrgios, Simona Halep, and Wimbledon champion, Elena Rybakina will also play in the tournament. World Tennis League will also mark the comeback of Alexander Zverev.

What is the format of the World Tennis League?

The tournament will boast a total of 16 players spread across four teams. The tournament will have a round-robin format with the top two teams playing in the final. World Tennis League will result in some exciting combinations of players playing in one team.
