Movies that are made based on tennis and athletes like John McEnroe and Serena Williams aren’t something new. Borg vs. McEnroe, Battle of the Sexes, and Wimbledon have all adorned the cinemas in the recent past. Similar to these movies, there was one more that was released to rave reviews from critics and fans last year named King Richard.

King Richard is an American biographical sports drama film. It is based on the Williams sisters’ father, Richard Williams’ life. The movie also contains a character that portrays John McEnroe in a crucial role. Recently, John McEnroe discussed the film and broke down a few of the scenes from the movie on the YouTube channel GQ Sports.

John McEnroe heaps high praise for the movie King Richard

On September 19, 2022, tennis legend John McEnroe analyzed the authenticity of tennis scenes from different movies. During one of the scenes, he praised the film ‘King Richard’. He felt King Richard as a film was much better than ‘Borg vs. McEnroe’. 

“This is unquestionably, to me, the best tennis movie I’ve ever seen. I hate to say, that since there’s one Borg versus McEnroe, but this story is a story that comes along like, literally, once in a hundred years,” said the 63-year-old veteran.

King Richard actor Will Smith’s controversial Oscars appearance

The 2022 Academy Awards were a huge success, but everyone will remember King Richard actor Will Smith slapping Chris Rock. Almost everyone in show business had something to say about the 53-year-old actor’s shocking and unexpected behavior.
