The Laureus Award event took place last night and saw several athletes gleam with pride. The tennis community also received great news as Carlos Alcaraz was studded with the Breakthrough of the Year award. This is the second consecutive year in which tennis players are celebrating in such a manner as last year; the same award was won by none other than Emma Raducanu.  

This is not the only thing that links the two players together. Recently, fans have created somewhat of a ship between the two players after Raducanu made a slight mistake. 

Carlos Alcaraz praised for his efforts

The Spaniard has shown the world his greatness. Since he set foot on the court, he has put fear into the hearts of his opponents. He has further solidified his position as a player to look out for, as he has won several championships over time. He even became one of the youngest players to reach rank 1. For his efforts last year, he was named Breakthrough of the Year at the Laureus Awards.

The Spaniard beamed with pride in a tuxedo as he held up the trophy to pose for a picture. He also shared the caption, “A very special night in Paris! 🏆 😍 Thank you for this Laureus World Breakthrough of the Year Award! 😊 Thank you to the academy and everyone who made this possible. And of course congratulations to all the winners and nominees! 😉 #Laureus23“.

The British number 1 recently announced a long hiatus due to a recent wrist injury. She even shared a photo of her right hand in a cast post-surgery. Fans worldwide poured their support to lift the spirits of the player. However, one incident lit a fire of rumors between her and the ATP number 2. Raducanu was fooled by a fake Twitter account of Alcaraz, which also shared a message of support.

She replied to the message in a flirtatious tone but later deleted the message as she realized that it was not the official account of the Spaniard. But fans caught on to it before she could delete her reply. Rumors spread like fire in a forest about a potential romance between the two. There is no official news about it yet, though.
