A historic and groundbreaking idea is finally seeing some light in the world of tennis. The idea of merging the men’s and women’s tours isn’t a new one in the world of tennis. Many renowned stars, including the legendary Roger Federer, have put forward this idea over the years. But now, the process is finally progressing as the executives of both circuits have been invited to London. And now, after three years, Federer’s idea is finally taking shape as the $6.5 billion Saudi Fund decides to revisit it for the sake of WTA and ATP.

Roger Federer’s idea seems to be coming to life with Saudi Fund
In the year 2020, Roger Federer tweeted about how he would love if men’s and women’s tennis got united and came together as one. The Swiss Maestro tweeted, “Just wondering…..am I the only one thinking that now is the time for men’s and women’s tennis to be united and come together as one?”
And to his surprise, a lot of people even agreed with him. His tweet reached remarkable engagement as people continued to share his idea throughout.

And now, after more than 3 years, there is speculation about his innovative idea, actually turning into reality. The representatives of ATP and WTA, respectively Andrea Gaudenzi and Steve Simon, are meeting soon to align the plan further. If this goes as planned, it can turn out to be a game-changer for tennis fans and players equally.

As per recent reports by the Telegraph, the four grand slams would continue to remain separate and not become one unified tour. There are a lot of reasons why this idea is not being fast-tracked now.
Saudi Fund attempts to make a remarkable move in tennis!
One of the primary reasons why this plan is now being fast-tracked is Novak Djokovic. The 23-time major champion founded his own player union called the PTPA. It is a direct rival of the other two associations. PTPA has been gradually expanding its influence in the last 4 years.

This is the reason why merging the tours has become critical for the authorities. And they have been having meetings in the US since the first week of the US Open.
