Novak Djokovic and Coco Gauff previously made headlines at the Grand Slam event in New York. The American tennis prodigy secured her maiden major title, while her Serbian male counterpart achieved his 24th Grand Slam triumph at the US Open. It wasn’t even long after the hardcourt tournament concluded before the tennis superstars once again garnered attention, albeit owing to an incredible off-court achievement.

The newly crowned US Open champions recently got featured in the list of the ‘Most Marketable Athletes’ in the sporting community. However, despite the tennis sensations’ illustrious presence, the star-studded list got brutally trolled by fans on social media.

Every season, Sports Pro releases the list of the ‘Most Marketable Athletes’, based on three criteria: brand strength, total addressable market, and economics.’ In the latest edition of this accolade, Novak Djokovic and Coco Gauff also made it to the top 20 rankings, with the Serb sitting in the 11th spot. The WTA phenomenon, on the other hand, found herself in 12th place on the SportsPro list.

A lot of tennis fans took note of the same and dropped their reactions on Twitter as they criticized the list of the ‘Most Marketable Athletes’. One fan said, “This list is hilarious 😅”

The reigning Wimbledon champion, Carlos Alcaraz, was ranked 54, which was lower than the WTA superstars. Taking note of the same, another fan said, “Alcaraz at 54 and lower than Sabalenka, Raducanu, Kvitova and Jabeur just makes the whole list incredibly invalid in all honesty.”

Similarly, another user mocked the prestigious list by commenting, “Total nonsense.”

Meanwhile, a fan questioned how some of the players, who weren’t at their best performance levels this season, also achieved the top spots on the list.

He said, “Looking at some of them that have not played or have done very poorly in the last few years so high on the list is astounding.”

The list of ‘Most Marketable Athletes’ also got trolled by another user who commented, “Lol, that’s absurd.”
