For Italian Matteo Berrettini, 2023 has been a difficult year so far. The former World No. 6 has struggled to perform at his best, and as a result, is looking like a mere shadow of his former self on the tennis court. However, Berrettini seems to be quite content in his personal life after a rocky 2022.

Recently, the 27-year-old took to Instagram and posted an intimate picture of himself with his girlfriend, Melissa Satta. The post came on the back of a revealing interview, in which Berrettini opened up about his ex-girlfriend.

In 2019, Berrettini began dating Ajla Tomljanovic, the Australian tennis ace. However, in 2022, the couple’s relationship started to deteriorate. Unsurprisingly, Berrettini and Tomljanovic decided to go their separate ways. They were destined, however, to run into each other sooner than they would have wanted. It happened during the shooting of ‘Break Point’, a tennis-based docuseries produced by Netflix.

In his interview, Berrettini said, “Seeing each other again was strange because in the series there is also my ex but I’m happy with how they represented me”. The Netflix docuseries aims to bring tennis fans closer to the professionals as they go about their busy lives across the WTA and ATP tours.

Judging by Berrettini’s latest Instagram post, he seems to have well and truly moved on from his awkward encounter with Tomljanovic. In the post, Berrettini is all smiles as he gives his current girlfriend Melissa Satta a peck on her cheek. Satta couldn’t control her happiness either.

Berrettini’s girlfriend may not have a global following, but she’s certainly a well-known figure in Italy, where she works as a television presenter. Satta’s career started in Italy’s fashion industry, and she quickly became a prominent model. Over time, she moved into television and bagged several lucrative offers to present a variety of programs on Italian television.

Before dating Berrettini, Satta was married to Ghanaian soccer player Kevin-Prince Boateng. However, they divorced in 2020. So far, everything’s going well for Satta and Berrettini. The Italian presenter also tries to cheer her boyfriend on from the stands whenever she can. During the 2023 Miami Open, Satta even flew to Florida to give Berrettini some much-needed confidence. It marked Berrettini’s return to the tournament after he withdrew from the 2022 edition.
