

The current conflict between Russia and Ukraine has made several sporting organizations send not just messages of solidarity but also vouch for peace across the globe. Coming to tennis, lots of players have used their respective social platforms to share their thoughts over the current situation.
Recently, ATP, WTA, ITF, US Open, Wimbledon, Australian Open, and the French Open also joined forces to pray for peace. Two famous Ukrainian tennis players, Elina Svitolina and Sergiy Stakhovsky, have also sent video messages.

Tennis organizations including the four Grand Slams join forces
According to the ATP, all the seven governing entities made a hefty amount of donation ($100,000 each) to support the humanitarian relief efforts. Earlier, they also voiced their opinion about the current situation involving Russia and Ukraine.
“You are strong, you are beautiful, you are unique, you are Ukraine. You are fighting, but not alone. The tennis family is united, in a mission to reunite our beloved world and to support the relief efforts for the war in Ukraine. Tennis plays for unity, tennis plays for humanity, tennis plays for peace,” the message read.

A new initiative to spread awareness among fans
We will see all the ATP and WTA players wearing a Ukrainian ribbon during the Indian Wells. All the seven governing bodies also decided to use the Ukrainian ribbon icon for all of their social media handles to promote peace. People can also use the hashtag #Tennisplaysforpeace on social media.

Further, the seven governing bodies will also send a digital toolkit to the federations of every tennis-playing nation. This gives an opportunity for every player to use the toolkit and spread awareness across social media. Meanwhile, the governing bodies decided to keep Russian players as neutral athletes until further notice.
