23-year-old Czech Republican star, Tomas Machac, is having a breakthrough 2024 season. Not only has Machac excelled in singles but also in men’s doubles, reaching the semifinals at the Australian Open for the latter earlier this year. Subsequently, he also went on to win the Open 13 men’s doubles title, but despite his impressive performances, an unusual headline was made about him recently. Reacting to this, fans remembered Victoria Azarenka suffering a similar fate.

Yesterday, a picture of Tomas Machac and Katerina Siniakova attending the Taste Of Tennis Indian Wells 2024 together resurfaced on social media. However, Machac was termed ‘guest’ in the picture’s headline. Tennis fans were taken by surprise after reading it and some remembered Azarenka suffering a similar fate years back. In 2013, the Belarusian tennis star was termed a ‘guest’ in a picture’s headline at the ESPY Awards.

Reacting to Machac’s similar incident, one fan said, “The guests are doing great in Miami this year.” Like Machac, Azarenka is also having a good run in Miami and has reached the semifinals.

Similarly, another fan also remembered Azarenka’s incident at the ESPY Awards, and said, “vika what are you doing on the floor.”

However, one Twitter user chose humor to react to the incident, revealing, “Overtakes the honour of the title “guest” from Vika.”

Meanwhile, one fan shared a gif of Azarenka having a wry smile.

Siniakova, who was captured along with Machac in Indian Wells, is the latter’s fiancé. The two have been together for quite some time now and also supported each other in their careers, which Machac recently opened up about.

Lauding her for his resurgence, Machac said, “She’s a great player, especially in doubles, I think the results can speak about itself, so I don’t know she breaking the records every week in double. So, I for sure got some advice but uh let’s say I won the tournament…She helps me a lot.” 

Tomas Machac will face Jannik Sinner in the Miami Open quarterfinals later today. It’ll be interesting to see if he can maintain his giant-killing run against Sinner, who is in great form.
