Women tennis players are setting a new standard for passion for the sport. Even after becoming mothers, dealing with difficult pregnancies, and raising children, they are returning to their passions as individuals. Most recently, Elina Svitolina, a former World No. 3 WTA player, returned to the tennis court and put up an incredible performance, despite becoming a mother last year.
Taking the Ukrainian tennis player’s recent stunt as an example, Andy Murray spoke about the impact of women’s players making a professional comeback post-pregnancy. A father of four, the British tennis legend also shared his proud take on women athletes pursuing similar traits to men, even after going through a lot.

After the success of Elina Svitolina, Murray gushes over WTA players’ post-pregnancy comebacks
The 28-year-old Elina Svitolina, who nearly six months ago gave birth to her daughter, made her way to the Wimbledon semi-finals. Like Serena Williams in 2017 before her, the Ukrainian player showed that nothing is impossible. While her amazing comeback has been the talk of the town, 36-year-old Andy Murray shared his views on the impact of sacrifices women make in their careers.
Being a vocal partisan of the WTA tour, he discussed the matter in a press conference at the Citi Open. He said, “It feels like, to me, that more female players have had children and then come back on to playing on the tour in recent years, which I think is great. I think it’s a really positive thing.” Further, he added, “Yeah, so I have been very fortunate with that, as well. But I’m amazed, like, how well Svitolina, how quickly she’s come back and playing at such a good level so soon after having kids is amazing.”

Not only other tennis players, but even her own husband, Gael Monfils, is quite proud and inspired by his wife’s dedication to return to the tennis court and claim titles.

Not only that, but he also stated that it blew him away to watch his wife defeat former Grand Slam champions like it was no big deal. Not only have WTA moms inspired other players inside the tennis arena, but, also inspired women out in the world as mothers.
