The 2021 tennis season has just begun with many events like the Delray Beach Open being played recently. However, the biggest of them all, the Australian Open, is beginning on February 8th. Fans are surely looking forward to this as it will see the return of some of their favorite players like Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Serena Williams.

This year, the event has been complicated by the coronavirus pandemic. Players have to undergo a mandatory two-week quarantine, which is why they are all arriving very early. In fact, title contenders like Rafa, Novak, Serena Williams, Naomi Osaka, and Dominic Thiem have just landed in Adelaide.

Many fans are probably wondering – why did these players choose to quarantine in Adelaide instead of Melbourne? The reason for this is that they are playing an exhibition event called  ‘A Day at the Drive’.

This event is scheduled to be played on the 29th and 30th of January and it would provide a great opportunity for players to warm-up for the events that lie ahead of them.

Even as the Australian Open remains the primary goal of the players, the ATP Cup, which thoroughly entertained the fans last year, is scheduled before the Grand Slam.

This is a team event that hosted its inaugural edition last year across 3 cities in Australia. This time, it will be played only in Melbourne due to the pandemic. Also, it will be held only across 4 days between February 1st and 5th.
