The US Open 2022 is inching closer, as we will see the first day’s play on Monday, the 29th of August. Both the organizers and the broadcasters are hoping for a massive turnout. As for the commentators, we will get to see the panel of some of the best experts, consisting of former players and TV personalities.

Notably, this year’s US Open will be in the history books, as we will see the 23-time Grand Slam champion, Serena Williams, showcase her skills with a racket for the last time in her professional career. So, the commentary team needs to be on their toes to provide their expert opinion and insights. Now, let’s take a look at the commentators for this year’s US Open.

Several legends in the panel of commentators at the US Open 2022

ESPN has been covering the US Open for a long period and their expert panel of commentators is also some of the best. Notably, former American tennis player and 18-time Grand Slam champion Chris Evert has been working for the broadcasters since 2011.

Apart from Evert, we will also see the  7-time Grand Slam winner, John McEnroe, as he is also one of ESPN’s experts who joined them in 2009. Apart from his commentary duty, he will also conduct many on-court interviews. Additionally, he brings the entertainment factor with his controversial and funny remarks. Alongside McEnroe, we will see the Hall of Famer Cliff Drysdale, who has been working since 1979. Moreover, he was the very first president of the ATP, and was also a top player in his time.

Along with such legends of the sport, we will also see some young experts in Caroline Wozniacki and James Blake. Notably, Wozniacki retired from tennis in 2020 and she recently joined ESPN as their expert during Wimbledon. Moreover, she is also one of Serena‘s closest friends. As for Blake, he joined the ESPN’s team last year before the US Open.

Aside from those, we will also see some of the iconic commentators and former players, like Darren Cahill, Chris Fowler, Patrick McEnroePam Shriver, Rennae Stubbs, and a few more.

While ESPN will cover the whole US Open, Amazon Prime will telecast the entire Grand Slam event in the UK. Arguably one of the greatest tennis players of all time, Martina Navratilova will join Prime’s broadcasting team in the UK. Notably, she has been working as an expert for the Tennis Channel and fans loved her great knowledge and insight of the sport.

The former American tennis star and 4-time Grand Slam winner, Jim Courier, will also join Navratilova in Amazon’s broadcasting team. Courier is particularly popular with his on-court interviews, as he entertains the fans with some hilarious questions. Apart from Courier, we will also see former British no.1, Tim Henman, who has been commentating for a long time. Notably, he witnessed Emma Raducanu‘s triumph at the US Open last year.

Along with such prominent figures, the legendary commentator and presenter, Catherine Whitaker, will also work for Prime during the US Open 2022. Notably, she has been working as a tennis presenter for Eurosport, BBC Radio 5, and Tennis TV; she joined Prime in 2018. Aside from these experts, we will see Mark Petchey, Mary Joe Fernandez, Greg Rusedski, and others on the commentary team for Amazon as well.
