Andrey Rublev is currently making headlines in the Madrid Open tournament. Especially after he made his way through the quarterfinals by defeating World No. 3, Carlos Alcaraz. And to celebrate his ongoing success on-court, he will be accompanied by a special person in his personal life, his long-term girlfriend, Anastasija Homutova. However, what his fans might be unaware that Homutova is also a tennis player herself, much like her boyfriend!
According to reports, Andrey Rublev has been dating Anastasija Homutova for almost eight years now. The couple first met during a practice session in 2016, and immediately felt a special connection, which goes beyond their personal relationship. This is because, apart from being a model, Homutova is also a professional tennis player and a part-time coach.
The 27-year-old player started playing tennis at the age of five. In 2012, she played on the ITF circuit for the first time, gracing ITF events until 2017. In 2014, she even reached the quarterfinals of an ITF clay court event in Estonia. But Homutova ultimately lost to Alexandra Artamonova in that match. After five years, she decided to quit. However, her last registered victory was against Sara Lanca in March 2017.

Ranked as high as No. 107, the former WTA player played her last professional match seven years ago in Turkey. However, before retiring, she encountered three consecutive losses on clay. After having a career in tennis, Homutova decided to train young players and has been doing ever since.
Known as a humble person, Anastasija keeps a low profile in the tennis world. But Andrey Rublev often shares Instagram pictures with her beloved on different occasions. Not only that, during several matches of Rublev, Homutova was seen cheering for him in the player’s box. And with her constant support, Rublev has rapidly progressed into the semifinals of the Madrid Open. But before that, Andrey Rublev expressed his feelings after defeating Alcaraz in his last match.

Carlos Alcaraz’s 14-match winning streak came to an end when Andrey Rublev defeated him on his home ground. With a score of 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, the World No. 7 entered his first semifinal in Madrid. However, the Russian player, who endured a four-match losing streak before coming to the clay court event, wants to keep himself humble for now.
“Maybe this week is a relief but then next week we will go back to the same… so better not to think this way because when you start to think ‘Oh, how good everything is’ that’s what happened at the beginning of the season,” he said after the match.
