

The Wimbledon Championships 2022 have come to an end. The prestigious tournaments faced some bumps at the start because of the ban imposed on Russian and Belarusian tennis players, and the subsequent removal of ranking points by the ATP and the WTA. Thus, many star players like Eugenie Bouchard and Victoria Azarenka were absent from this year’s event.

However, as soon as the event commenced, fans’ focus turned to the players and their performances. Like every year, the Grand Slam acted as a platform for several rising stars, and this year, it was Elena Rybakina’s time to shine in the limelight.
On 10th July, the Centre Court hosted the last match of its 100th session. Thus bringing an end to the grass swing and giving a well-deserved break to the players. Here’s how some of the entities are spending their vacation.
Eugenie Bouchard, Victoria Azarenka and Nick Kyrgios, among others on vacation
With months in hand to prepare for the US Open, some players took some time off their busy training regime. The 2019 Wimbledon champion and 2022 semifinalist Simona Halep decided to spend some quality time with her friends. Sharing some pictures on Instagram, she wrote, “recharged batteries.”

Further, Heather Watson, who made it up to the last 16 of the tournament, embarked on a trip to Greece. The former British No.1 shared the scenic beauty of Mykonos with her fans and wrote, “Oh Mykiii you so fine.”

Petra Kvitova, the two-time Wimbledon champion following a third round exit, surrounded herself with her friends. She captioned her fun time, “Time for a girls’ night in Monaco.”

Whereas Nick Kyrgios, who reached his first ever Grand Slam final at Wimbledon, was on a trip to the Bahamas. The 27-year-old, along with his girlfriend, enjoyed the sun and sand of Nassau.

Players who weren’t part of Wimbledon
In addition, players who didn’t participate in the Grand Slam of grass also took a break before the start of the hard-court season. Eugenie Bouchard, the 2014 Wimbledon finalist, kept out of the tournament to safeguard her protected ranking and will most probably show up in the US Open. And before testing her skills in America, she visited the sea.

Bouchard incurred a shoulder injury while playing in the 2021 Guadalajara Open. Following which she underwent a surgery and is yet to make a comeback to the WTA tour.

In addition, Victoria Azarenka, the three-time US Open finalist, will also return to the circuit after being banned from the third Grand Slam. The Belarusian star, instead of dwelling on losing the chance to further her record in Wimbledon, used her spare time wisely.
