‘You Fooled Me..’ – 18-Year-Old Coco Gauff Astounded by Die-Hard Tennis Fans’ Creative Morphing Skills Featuring Two Russian Stars

There are two Russian players that the tennis world usually raves about in the ATP Tour – Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev. And the two stars, who recently met in the finals of the Dubai Championships, command a significant following on social media. A unique thing about fans is that, at times, they also like to have a laugh at the expense of their favorite players. Something similar happened recently as a fan hilariously pulled off a trick that made a fool out of Daniil Medvedev. This hilarious prank received a thumbs-up from the American tennis sensation Coco Gauff.

After winning in Dubai, he did not know that he would lose in recalling one part of his childhood that one of his fans forged.

The American teenage sensation Coco Gauff is a social media diva. So, obviously, she could not miss tennis Twitter’s most viral photo of Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev from the time they were kids.

But the plot twist is that it is photoshopped. And the remarkable skills of the tennis fan made Daniil Medvedev believe it was true. Gauff found the situation hilarious like thousands of people. However, she sympathized with Medvedev because she too thought it was true. She stated, “you fooled me. this is gold.”

The picture is of the younger days of Rublev and Medvedev. But the fan morphed Medvedev into a different picture. Originally, Rublev was standing with some other young tennis player.

Nostalgia is cooking up things in Medvedev’s head

After playing Rublev in the finals of the Dubai Championship, he shared the picture and stated, “Even as kids we were suppperrrr excited to play each other @andreyrublev.”

However, Marcos Zugasti, a content editor working with the ATP Tour and ITF Tennis, revealed the real story behind the picture. He tweeted, “Today, in random data: this photo that Daniil shared never existed—it’s a montage that someone made between these two photos. MZ investigates (?) .”

Even Rublev confirmed this on Instagram as he commented, “Just to let you know, it’s a fake photo. there’s (that’s) one Romanian player not Daniil”.

Turned out, his memory is not as good as his tennis skills. Whereas Rublev remembers things correctly. He knew the fan morphed them from the get-go.

The two met each other in the finals of the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, where Medvedev took down Rublev in straight sets. The H2H of the two has now gone up to 5-2 in favor of Medvedev.

Though he did not have a great run at the Australian Open this year, the former world no.1 is busy making up for the loss. In the past three weeks, the Russian star has won three titles, at ATP Rotterdam, Qatar Open, and now at the Dubai Tennis Championships.
