After the match, Martina Navratilova praised Carlos Alcaraz’s mental tenacity as he refused to give in to pressure despite losing the first set comprehensively. When Alcaraz was serving for the match, he started off with a drop shot, which he missed. Yet, he played another drop shot and Djokovic too returned it, but Alcaraz, with nerves of steel, hit a perfect topspin lob that foxed Djokovic. Thus, he won that game and, as a result, won the match in some style.
Martina Navratilova said she ‘went crazy’ after Carlos Alcaraz won the Wimbledon title. She said, “When Carlos was serving for the match and he missed that first drop shot, and then he comes right back and hits a top spin lob on the next point, I went crazy, because to go with that touch, when you are that nervous, serving for the match, your heart is pounding, it was just amazing. And yeah, as Novak said, yesterday he lost to a better player.”

He said to the Tennis Channel, “I saw her after I got out from the court. And I told her, ‘It was your advice! The key.’ I tried to do everything she told me. I mean, nine times champion–You have to do whatever she tells you. And I think it was great”. Apparently, Navratilova had advised him to slice more and when he did that, it paid rich dividends.
