Reacting to the news, the 18-time singles Grand Slam champion Martina Navratilova recently offered her heartfelt felicitations on the remarkable feat.
With his sheer brilliance on the court, Bopanna has reached the semifinals of the doubles category of the Grand Slam event in Melbourne. In doing so, the ATP veteran has pulled off a historic feat on the men’s tour.

The Tennis Channel tweeted, “Congrats to 🇮🇳 Rohan Bopanna, who on Monday will become the new World No. 1 in doubles! The 43-year-old becomes the oldest first-time World No. 1 on the men’s side 👏”
While retweeting the post, the American tennis legend also congratulated the 43-year-old player for his ‘unreal’ achievement. She stated, “Unreal! Well done Rohan!!!”

In the second round, Bopann and Ebden overcame another Aussie duo, John Millman and Edward Winter, with a score of 6-2, 6-4. The second-seeded duo then brushed aside Wesley Koolhof and Nikola Mektić to secure a place in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open.
