When he isn’t leading the Colorado Buffaloes, 57-year-old Deion Sanders is involved in a variety of activities. He enjoys fishing, stars in docuseries, releases new colorways of his ‘Nike Diamond Turf ’93’ cleats, and hosts his Tubi show, We Got Time Today. Yet, amid all the buzz, the Pro Football Hall of Famer has been missing one thing: competition. A legend who’s played in a World Series, won 2 Super Bowls, and earned six NFL All-Pro nods, Sanders has long thrived on pushing boundaries. Now, he’s turning to tennis for his next challenge! As he eyes a transformation from Coach Prime to “Prime Blackenroe”, none other than Frances Tiafoe and Taylor Townsend are cheering him on in this bold, competitive comeback.

Just a couple of hours ago, Deion Sanders took to IG to share a new side of himself, on a tennis court. Alongside a snapshot and two video clips of him practicing, Sanders revealed that tennis has become his latest passion. “I got a new Hobby because I’ve got to have something that I can personally compete. Give me 6 months and I’m gonna be PRIME BLACKENROE! Please understand I’m working with 8 toes and a lot of pain but baby I’m working,” he added.

Sanders didn’t stop there though as he already has an opponent in mind. He then challenged actor Leon Robinson, known for his versatility and on-screen talent. “My goal is to be able to Compete against my dear friend and 1 of the Best Actors in the game that has played every role imaginable @wwwjustleon ! That …….. can PLAY PLAY! Leon I’m Coming for you man! #CoachPrime” While it’s unclear whether the match will happen, both WTA and ATP stars chimed in with encouragement and advice.

As soon as Deion Sanders unveiled his latest passion for tennis on IG, the tennis world lit up with reactions. Frances Tiafoe, known for his humor and infectious energy, quickly chimed in with a comment that had fans laughing. “Unc said “prime blackenroe” 😂😂😂,” Tiafoe wrote, a playful nod to the legendary John McEnroe, cleverly rebranded through Sanders’ larger-than-life persona.

On the women’s side, WTA pro and doubles GS winner Taylor Townsend also joined in with her support and a bit of coaching spirit. “Let’s go!!! 🔥 let me know when you ready to get a lesson! I can help with those ground strokes 🤣👍🏾,” Townsend commented, enthusiastically offering her expertise and throwing her hat in the ring as a potential coach on tour. The community vibe extended even further with tennis veteran and former coach of Serena Williams, Rennae Stubbs, who offered rather technical advice. “Looking good. Just get a little more shoulder turn. 🤓🤗,” she wrote.

Leon Robinson, Sanders’ proposed 1st opponent, responded with a mix of excitement and humor as well. “I know you ain’t afraid of the Smoke, Coach. @deionsanders it will be my pleasure & an honor to join you in any athletic sport! Keep practicing , Bro 😉‼️ After the match, we going #fishing 👍🏾,” he said, accepting the challenge and promising to keep it friendly with some post-match bonding.

On the other hand, while Sanders is stepping onto the tennis court, Frances Tiafoe hinted he might be heading in a different direction. The American tennis star recently opened up about his interest in promoting another sport, suggesting that his focus might not be limited to tennis alone. Any guesses?

“I can watch hoops for five hours,” Big Foe opened up about his desire to watch NBA games

After a difficult start to the year, Frances Tiafoe is finally getting back to his groove on clay. The 16th seed struggled early in the year, failing to achieve back-to-back wins during the Australian and North American hard-court seasons. Things looked up briefly when he reached the final in Houston, his third at the event, but his European clay-court results have remained modest. His best showing so far came with a R16 finish at the Madrid Open. Now, he shifts his focus to the German Open, where he kicks off his campaign today before heading to France.

For Tiafoe, May is not only about tennis; it also brings the NBA Playoffs. And the reality that the Washington Wizard aren’t playing this year hasn’t been able to keep him away from following the postseason. While speaking to Stephanie Livaudais earlier this month, he added “It’s funny, I go to Europe every year and that’s usually around when the NBA Playoffs is on.”

Tiafoe added with a laugh, “So for me, I struggle with jet lag to get on the proper time, but at the same time it’s like… I can wake up at 3 a.m., and I don’t mind it because I can just put the game on. In my mind, I’m just like, Oh well, I can watch hoops for five hours! But then I can’t see at two o’clock.”

This week, replays might be his best bet, as he prepares to face China’s Yunchaokete Bu in his opening match. Can he win the German cup before stepping foot on the French clay?
