When Serena Williams’ childhood coach started respecting King Richard 

There have been a lot of stories that the 23-time Grand Slam champion’s childhood coach has shared with the outer world, explaining his equation with King Richard. While he has appreciated him as a father, there was a time back in 1991 when he actually started respecting him for what he wanted him to do for his daughters.

Recently, Rick Macci in his iconic 75 questions series, took to his Twitter account to shed light on the moment when he actually started respecting Richard while sharing an incident. He wrote, “When we first met May 1991 in Compton Richard pulled out a yellow piece of notebook paper with at least 75 questions and Grilled Me Extra Double Crispy like I WAS IN A DEPOSITION.I actually REALLY Respected this father right from that moment.”

Apart from that, he also highlighted how this was the first time he met him, and in their first meeting itself, Williams’ father’s dedication to knowing about everything got him. Last year, the 42-year-old legend’s coach talked glowingly about Richard Williams. He tweeted, “Richard Williams was the same exact guy/dad every single day for 4 years. Determined passionate funny smart different loving caring serious focused unpredictable and very confident. He never ever blinked. I LOVE THIS GUY. RICHARD WILLPOWER!”

He publicly praised the self-assurance of Venus and Serena Williams’ father, but he also acknowledged the willpower it took him years to achieve his vision regarding his daughters. Even after sharing such a good bond with Richard and treating his daughters like his own, Macci did not train him after 1995.
