The British tennis star, Andy Murray, has joined a slew of soccer fans in the decade-long debate over who is the greatest soccer player of all time. For the past decade or so, it has been always difficult for the sporting world to choose between the two ‘GOATs’ of soccer, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. However, Murray has given his opinion on the ‘GOAT’ debate while slamming a renowned British journalist who is a massive fan of the Portuguese star.

Meanwhile, the Czech–American tennis legend, Martina Navratilova, also joined Murray in order to mock Piers Morgan. Messi’s crucial goal against Mexico during the FIFA World Cup prompted Murray to take a jab at Morgan as he posted a cheeky post tagging him on Twitter. However, Murray’s cheeky comment fueled a fierce online spar between him and Morgan.
Andy Murray slammed a renowned British journalist
The former Wimbledon champion, with his choice of Lionel Messi over Cristiano Ronaldo, took a dig at Piers Morgan. Last night, the Argentine scored a crucial goal to give his team a huge victory over Mexico, keeping them in the tournament in Qatar. This prompted the British tennis star to slam Morgan, who has always placed Ronaldo over Messi in the GOAT debate.

The former world no. 1 posted a picture of Messi with a cheek caption tagging Morgan. Andy Murray stated, “Oops. @piersmorgan”

Morgan, who has never shied away from answering his critics, gave a quick response to the British tennis star. The TV presenter stated, “I can see why you like him… both the 2nd best players in your sport to come from your own country. #maradona #perry”

In his response, Morgan made a reference to the 1986 World cup winner and one of the all time greats of soccer, the late Diego Maradona. Additionally, the British broadcaster also made a reference to the 8-time singles Grand Slam champion, Fred Perry, while comparing him to Murray who has won 3 singles Grand Slam titles.
Murray took note of Morgan’s reply and he further commented on the post by saying, “Nibble 🎣”
Martina Navratilova also slammed Morgan
It wasn’t just the British tennis player who mocked Morgan. Later, the former Czech–American tennis player, Martina Navratilova, joined Andy Murray in mocking the British broadcaster.

Navratilova slammed Morgan for ‘writing off’ Messi. The 18-time singles Grand Slam champion took note of Murray’s cheeky post on social media. She further commented, “Did Piers write off Messi? Big mistake:)”
