Avowed, the new project from Obsidian is already raising concerns after its debut trailer at the Xbox Games Showcase 2023. This game is scheduled to arrive on Xbox and PC and has raised concerns regarding its visuals and gameplay scope among the fans.

Set in an RPG Universe, Avowed has issues that irked the players about its creative outlook. The developer team from Obsidian has responded to the fans’ worry regarding this game, which is in its pre-alpha state currently. They have confirmed further developments in the game to enhance its quality for a better gaming experience.

Obsidian’s response to the concerns on Avowed

Since its debut trailer release in Xbox Games Showcase, the visuals of the game became one of the major points of discussion among fans. Set in the similar living lands like Pillars of Eternity Universe, Avowed offers a strong plot prioritizing game-play with stories forwarded by characters. Players will be offered activities like stealthy assassination, wizardry, or defensive war in the game. However, the trailer has disappointed the fans with its bright color palettes, unlike Pillars of Eternity.

In response to the criticism, Briar Diem, a member of the Obsidian developer’s team answered the followers on the matter. He confirmed that Avowed is still in its early development stage. He mentioned that the game should not be compared to Outer World because of the differences in the games – “The trailer fails to show much in its 2-minute run time. To clear up misconceptions though I’ll say this, the game is big and open, it is unfair to compare it to OW (I think Feargus is trying to keep expectations down just in case), which I think it is nothing alike.”

He also mentioned that “The studio that did the trailer did some compression of colors and image editing, the screenshots that have been released are much more representative of what it looks like just running through it. “

Briar Diem’s response also brings the reference to one of the most popular releases of 2023, Starfield. From the initial stage to now, Starfield developers brought many details and developments to meet the players’ expectations satisfactorily. Feargus Urquhart, the CEO of Obsidian also explained the different storytelling approach in Avowed that will give the players a totally different RPG experience.
